In this Our Changing Climate environmental video essay, I look at the problem of food waste. Specifically, I look at how food waste both in America and across the world is a massive problem for climate change, the environment, and hunger. By addressing food waste in farms, grocery stores, and at home, we could potentially feed billions of people and curb the massive emissions generated to make food and from food waste that ends up in the landfill. There are some pretty simple fixes to food waste like creating a shopping list, using guides to figure out when your food actually spoils, or creating a compost area and then composting food scraps. As a Vox video on the topic puts it, food waste is the world’s dumbest problem. But if we address food waste head-on, we will be well on our way to solving climate change and mitigating world hunger.

Summary:
1. Chocolate
There could be a thunderstorm outside and my cat wouldn’t bat an eye. But if I open chocolate anywhere or anytime, she instantly becomes alert.

2. Avocado
Avocados are super healthy- but only for humans. Your cat needs to stay far from this delicious fruit.

3. Green Tomatoes
The good news is cats are highly unlikely to eat raw green tomatoes as they dislike the texture and taste. But still, look out for them. Cats are a bit weird and you never know when they might just decide to explore their options.

4. Grapes And Raisins
The Animal Poison Control Center advises against giving your cat anything made with grapes and raisins. It’s not yet known what makes them dangerous for pets, but the general consensus is that you should avoid them at all costs.

5. Onion
Some of us make the mistake of sharing table scraps with our cats. Do you do that as well? It is indeed difficult to resist their pleas, but you have to be strict. Lots of human foods contain onion in one form or the other. The bad news is they can give your kitty anemia!

Summary:
1. Avocados
It hurts whenever avocados make it on a list of “Bad Foods”. They are so delicious and make for a yummy sandwich. But as it turns out, this scrumptious fruit is a big NO-NO for your dog.

2. Chocolate
The lovely smell of chocolate! It’s not just us who are addicted to it. If you open a brand new chocolate bar, your silly pooch will come running. The smell attracts them too and of course, sugar is their weakness.

3. Raisins & Grapes
In short, never ever feed your dog raisins and grapes. Not even a few. They are extremely toxic for dogs and can cause rapid kidney failure. Even a small amount can send your dog to the ER.

4. Sweet Candles, Toothpaste, And Chewing Gum
There is a reason why we coupled sweet candies, chewing gums, and toothpaste under one heading. All of them contain a sugary-alcohol added to sweeten the taste.

5. Caffeine
Any beverage that contains a hint of caffeine is off the list of foods to give your dogs. Caffeine overstimulates a dog’s nervous system and causes their heart their heart to beat very fast.
