In todayβs video, weβll discuss the top 10 most dangerous foods in the world. Plus weβll cover a few tips, tricks, and alternatives for each to empower you with the knowledge to make small adjustments that can greatly impact your health and quality of life.
10. Polyunsaturated Vegetable Oils:
Polyunsaturated oils like soybean, corn, sunflower, and canola are unstable and prone to going rancid, leading to an increased risk of heart disease and cancer. Instead, choose more stable oils like extra virgin olive and coconut oil and watch out for polyunsaturated oils in processed foods.
9. Refined Grains:
Refined grains like white flour, white rice, and pasta lack fiber, vitamins, and minerals, causing rapid spikes in blood sugar levels and inflammatory damage which can lead to an increased risk of type 2 diabetes and heart disease. Choose whole grains like almond or pumpkin bread, cauliflower rice, and zucchini noodles.
8. Processed Meats:
Processed meats like salami, ham, hot dogs, and bacon contain nitrates and nitrites which have been linked to stomach and colorectal cancer, and can cause an 18% increased risk of coronary heart disease. Opt for nitrate-free and pasture-raised options, and treat processed meats as an occasional food.
7. Instant Noodles:
Instant noodles contain high amounts of sodium, monosodium glutamate (MSG), and tertiary-butyl hydroquinone (TBHQ), which can cause a variety of health problems including high blood pressure, heart disease, and stroke. Choose healthier options like fresh vegetables, rice noodles, and lean meats.
6. Canned Tomatoes:
Canned tomatoes contain bisphenol A (BPA), a chemical that can disrupt hormones and cause a range of health problems. Choose fresh tomatoes or look for BPA-free canned tomatoes.
5. Farmed Salmon:
Farmed salmon are raised in crowded conditions and fed an unnatural diet that can result in higher levels of contaminants like pesticides and antibiotics, which can cause health problems. Choose wild-caught salmon, which is higher in omega-3 fatty acids and lower in contaminants.
4. Margarine:
Margarine is made from vegetable oils that are hydrogenated to create a solid form, which produces trans fats that can raise LDL cholesterol and increase the risk of heart disease. Opt for butter, ghee, or plant-based spreads that are free of trans fats.
3. High-Fructose Corn Syrup:
High-fructose corn syrup (HFCS) is a common sweetener found in many processed foods that can cause obesity, diabetes, and other health problems. Choose natural sweeteners like honey, maple syrup, or stevia instead.

White sugar is highly refined and lacks nutrients, causing rapid spikes in blood sugar levels that can lead to inflammation, insulin resistance, and an increased risk of type 2 diabetes. Choose natural sweeteners like honey, maple syrup, or stevia instead.

BLACK THAI JUMPING FISH
1. MR. KINHβS FAMILY HOME
ADDRESS: Tu Le Ward, Van Chan District, Yen Bai Province
πSTICKY RICE IN BAMBOO: Wash the rice and place it in the bamboo. Add water. Cover the upper part with phrynium leaves and grill over a fire. Use a machete to cut the bamboo bark. Serve with sour buffalo skin.
πSOUR BUFFALO SKIN: Grill the buffalo skin and remove the hair. Boil the skin for 45 to 60 minutes. Cut the skin into thin slices and season with galangal, chilis and salt. Place in a jar for 5 to 7 days to ferment the skin.
πSOUR DECOMPOSED FISH: Cut the fish in big chunks. Roast the rice then pound it into a powder. Season fish with galangal, lemongrass, chillies, rice powder and salt. Place it in a jar for 3 to 7 days.
πTHAI TRADITIONAL GRILLED FISH: Cut the fish open and remove the gastric acid. Marinate in lemongrass, chillies, perilla leaves, Thai pepper, salt, and minced local stinky leaves. Place inside the fish then fold fish in half. Place fish on a bamboo skewer and grill for 30 minutes.
πFISH GASTRIC ACID DIPPING SAUCE: In a bowl, add the fish gut, local stinky leaves, salt and perilla. Pour the mixture into a bamboo trunk. Use phrynium leaves as a cork. Grill the bamboo trunk for 20 minutes. Pour it out and serve as a dipping sauce.
π±GRILLED MOSS IN BAMBOO: Wash the moss and chop in small pieces. Season with garlic, chillies, lemongrass, shallot, and cilantro. Place phrynium leaves in the bamboo trunk, then add the moss in and grill on fire for 20 minutes. Remove from the bamboo and serve.
πJUMPING FISH SALAD: Cut the banana blossom into thin slices. Squeeze it in water with salt. Mince the fish mint and normal mint. Add a bit of salt to the veggie mix. Add sour juice made from bamboo shoot pickle juice.

10 – Raw Baby Octopus
Also known as San-nakji, this dish is basically a raw, small octopus thatβs sometimes eaten alive! Even if it isnβt alive prior to consumption, many of the nerve cells are still firing and the tentacles still move around. This really odd feature is thanks to their nervous system with neurons located in the arms. Getting past that mental hurdle of wiggling tentacles isnβt the tough part. Itβs being able to actually swallow the tentacles thatβs the hardest task here. The tentacles contain miniature suction cups that keep on working even when the octopus isnβt alive. Yep. They can hold onto someoneβs throat. Do I really need to mention choking hazards here?! Would YOU eat a raw baby octopus?! Let us know in the comments! This dish is from Iceland, where Hakarl is a traditional dish. Hakarl is a mixture of Greenland Shark and other Sleeper Sharks thatβs hung up to dry for five months to ferment before eating. Sound appetizing yet? Since this fresh shark meat is poisonous when itβs fresh of a high content of urea and trimethylamine oxide, chefs have to go to great lengths to prepare it for consumption. When the sharks are first caught, theyβre gutted and placed in a shallow sandy hole for several weeks. Then strips of the meat are hung up for five months. Just try and imagine THAT smell! HΓ‘karl contains a large amount of ammonia and has a strong smell, similar to many cleaning products. People trying it for the first time apparently gag involuntarily on the first attempt to eat it because of the high ammonia content! Yeah, thatβs gonna be a no for me dawg. First-timers are advised to pinch their nose while taking the first bite, as the smell is much stronger than the taste. While this is a well liked dish in Iceland, the rest of the world seems to hate Hakarl. Anthony Bourdain described it as quote βthe single worst, most disgusting and terrible tasting thing.β Chef Gordon Ramsay tried it andβ¦.well you can pretty much guess how that went. Anyway, not only can this meat be dangerous if it isnβt prepared right, the payoff seems to be virtually non existent!
8 – Casu Marzu
Does rotten cheese made from sheep milk with maggots swimming around in it sound tasty? Itβs soft cheese with putrid liquid from wormy maggots. Yet, there are Italians that like to eat this dish! Pecorino cheese is left outside for days, while larvae lay eggs in the cheese. Once the eggs hatch, the larvae will chomp their way through the cheese. Meanwhile, acid from their digestive system just pours into the cheese. Unsurprisingly, this cheese is often unsafe to eat. To begin with, itβs only safe to eat it WHILE THE MAGGOTS ARE ALIVE! Also, if you eat any of the maggots, thereβs a good chance that they can survive on the inside of your intestines, a condition called pseudomyiasis. The European Union has banned the cheese, and offenders face heavy fines. Because of this, casu marzu can only be found on the black market!

Almost everyone eats octopus. And most of the octopus they eat is fried, grilled, or otherwise cooked. But weβre not here to talk about safely cooked octopus, weβre here to talk about sannakji.

Cassava is a root found across the world, primarily in South America, the Caribbean, and West Africa. In the United States itβs consumed in a dry, powered form known as tapioca. This is perfectly safe to eat. However, in some remote regions of the developing world people eat the cassava root just like you or I might eat a potato.

What sounds more appetizing than blood clams? I sure canβt think of anything, except maybe a good olβ fashioned bowl of chicken-foot soup with coagulated chunks of chicken blood β yes, itβs exactly as yummy as it sounds. Blood clams, however, unlike blood soup, donβt actually contain any blood. Inside of each clamβs soft tissue is a red, viscous hemoglobin that looks a whole lot like gelatinous blood. What you get is a rusty-looking vampire clam.

People have been eating sharks for as long as the spear and harpoon have been around. China, Japan, Korea – Thailand, Vietnam, India, Mexico – and even Canada are all countries where you can find smoked, salted, or dried shark meat for casual consumption. And while most people don’t die from it, between 2000 and 2009 23 people did.

When you think about eating monkey brains, the first thing that comes to mind is the infamous scene from Indiana Jones in which they scoop the monkey brains out of the live monkeyβs head! If that isnβt sick, I donβt know what is. Fortunately, this is not something thatβs practiced, nor has it ever been documented as a practice.
